Coast Guard helps rescue 40 kids and 6 adults stranded at Camp David on Lake Crescent , Washington

40 KIDS RESCUED BY COAST GUARD - SEATTLE, Wash.-- A Coast Guard boat crew from Station Port Angeles helped rescue 40 kids and six adults that were stranded at Camp David on Lake Crescent Friday.

Coast Guard crew members safely ferried groups of seven to nine passengers from Camp David to a bus waiting at the Marymere Falls trailhead.

Coast Guard Sector Puget Sound received the call at 3:45 pm that the group was stranded in a cabin with no power and unable to drive out due to trees down blocking the road. Each trip between the camp and the trailhead took more than 50 minutes, and with 6 trips needed, the boat crew worked for more than seven hours getting everyone to safety.

The 13 and 14 year old kids from Stevens Middle School in Port Angeles were on an annual school trip to the camp.

No injuries at the time of this rescue.
