Washington couple invites service members to Thanksgiving dinner

One family opened their home to a group of sailors who couldn't get back to see their loved ones.

SPANAWAY, Wash. – A Spanaway family opened up their home to serve a Thanksgiving meal to those who serve our country.

Jeffrey and Debra Arline’s son, Alivin, is a sailor, and they know how hard it is to be stationed far from loved one during the holiday season.

Alivin has been deployed to various places, working long hours with a big time difference from home.

"If it wasn't for Facebook and Snapchat and all that kind of stuff, we wouldn't see him,” Jeffrey said.

Now Alivin is stationed on Whidbey Island, and he brought some fellow service members to have Thanksgiving dinner with his family on Friday.

"To be able to give them a place where they feel at home, I love it,” Jeffrey said. “I thank God to be able to do that."
