Pregnant woman dragged, run over by own vehicle

BEAVERTON, Ore. -- A pregnant woman is expected to survive after she was dragged and run over by her own vehicle on Sunday night.

The woman's unborn child also appears to be healthy, according to the Washington County Sheriff's Office.

Two women and several children were in the car, a 2001 Mazda Tribute, when it broke down on Southwest Cedar Hills Boulevard. The two women got out and tried to push the car off to the side of the road, but the road sloped downward and the car started to roll forward.

One of the women tried to jump in the car to control it, but she was dragged and knocked over, The car then ran over her chest before it stopped.

When officers arrived, at about 7:04 p.m., they found the car hanging over a retaining wall and the woman on the ground. She was taken to a local hospital and does not appear to have suffered any life-threatening injuries, according to the Washington County Sheriff's Office.
