PORTLAND, Ore. -- A man who was shot and killed near the Portland State University campus early Tuesday morning has been identified as 21-year-old Diego Tejeda-Manzo.
The shooting was reported just before 1 a.m. Witnesses told officers they heard a fight before the shooting. When Portland police and PSU public safety officers arrived, they found Tejeda-Manzo wounded in front of the Subway at 1717 Southwest Park Avenue. Officers provided aid but Tejeda-Manzo was pronounced dead at the scene.
Witnesses also told investigators several people ran away after the gunfire. Officers searched the neighborhood but did not locate a suspect. Evidence of gunfire was found near the Subway restaurant. The Oregon State Medical Examiner said Tejeda-Manzo died as a result of homicidal violence from a gunshot wound.
