ODOT reminds drivers about work zones

WEST LINN, Ore. – The Oregon Department of Transportation gathered with other partners to deliver a potentially life-saving message.  It’s “don’t zone out, and stay alert in work zones.”  The message was delivered at the start of the busier road construction season.  The past five year average on work zone crashes really drives the message home.  ODOT said each year there have been 488 work zone crashes, including 13 with serious injuries and five with a fatality.

“So when you’re on the road it’s important that we stay focused, that we obey the signs the rules of the road, we practice common courtesy, common sense as you move into a work zone.” Said ODOT Director Matthew Garrett.
