2 injured in explosion, fire at Astoria commercial building

ASTORIA, Ore. – Two people were flown to a Portland hospital with burn injuries after an explosion and fire at a commercial building in Astoria Wednesday night.

The explosion was reported just before 6:30 p.m. near Portway and Industry streets.

The commercial building houses two business. Three people were working at the time of the explosion, according to Astoria police. However, two of them suffered burn injuries that required treatment at Legacy Emanuel in Portland.

The explosion came on the same day 8 people were injured in an explosion in Portland.

A marijuana dispensary in the building was damaged, but police say it was not the source of the explosion.

The Clatsop County Fire Investigation Team, Oregon State Fire Marshall’s Office and Oregon State Police arson investigators are working to determine what caused the explosion.
