Motorcycle rider seriously injured in Portland crash

PORTLAND, Ore. – A motorcycle rider suffered life-threatening injuries when he crashed into an oncoming vehicle in Southeast Portland Tuesday evening.

Portland police said the motorcyclist, 33-year-old John William McArthur of Portland, was riding northbound on Southeast Deardorff Road at a high speed when he crossed the center line and crashed into a southbound vehicle near Flavel Street. The collision occurred at around 5 p.m.

Medics rushed McArthur to a Portland hospital. Police do not believe he was impaired by drugs or alcohol.

The other driver was not injured.
