Two people die in Amity RV fire

AMITY, Ore. — A mother and her 8-year-old daughter died in an RV fire early Tuesday morning in Amity.

The Oregonian/OregonLive reported that firefighters were called to a home around 2 a.m. Tuesday. When they arrived, the home was engulfed in flames. After they put out the fire, the bodies of the mother, identified as 37-year-old Honey Cosgrove, and her 8-year-old daughter were found inside the motor home.

Amity Fire District Chief Bruce Hubbard told The Oregonian that he didn't believe foul play was involved and it appeared the fire started accidentally. He also said it didn't look like the RV had smoke alarms.

The Amity School District posted a message on its Facebook page, calling the incident a terrible tragedy.

"This is a terrible tragedy that causes much pain and grief for their family and our students and staff," the post read. "There are several siblings who survived the fire and will be dealing with this tremendous loss for a long time. We will be looking for ways to support these students and their family in whatever ways possible in the coming weeks and months."

A GoFundMe fundraising page has been set up to help the girl's two older siblings.

"They just lost everything that they had in a fire that took the life of their younger sister," the crowdfunding page reads.

More than $1,500 has been raised as of 9:30 a.m. Wednesday.

Amity is a small town in Yamhill County, about 10 miles south of McMinnville.
