PORTLAND -- A DUII suspect drove a car into the westbound MAX tunnel at the Goose Hollow stop Wednesday morning, police said.

Police were called just after 5 a.m. to the report of a car on the MAX tracks.

Officers arrived and found the car inside the tunnel. The driver, 28-year-old James Edmund Dejarnette, was not injured, said Portland police Sgt. Pete Simpson.

Dejarnette was jailed on charges of reckless driving and DUII.

TriMet switched to shuttle buses between the Sunset Transit Center and the Kings Hill stop while crews worked to remove the car.

The car was pulled from the tunnel at about 8 a.m. TriMet announced at 9 a.m. that the Red and Blue lines were reopened.
