'Armed and dangerous' North Plains murder suspect arrested

North Plains murder suspect in custody

WILSONVILLE, Ore. -- A man wanted for a Sept. 19 murder in the Washington County community of North Plains was arrested Wednesday in Wilsonville.

Chad B. Pitcher, 38, has been charged with murder and is being held without bail at the Washington County Jail.

Pitcher was considered "armed and dangerous."

A second suspect in the case, 40-year-old Christopher Stephens, was previously arrested in connection with the murder.

Deputies believe Pitcher shot and killed 39-year-old Michael Zven Arch of Hillsboro on Sept. 19. Arch had recently legally changed his name from Reiner Schmolling.

The shooting occurred in the 16000 block of Dairy Creek Road at around 4:50 p.m.

"This was not a stranger on stranger crime. These people we think were known to each other," said Deputy Jeff Talbot with the Washington County Sheriff's Office.
