Man in standoff surrenders to police after chase in Milwaukie

MILWAUKIE, Ore. – Milwaukie police have ended a standoff with a man barricaded in a shed following a chase Wednesday afternoon.

The man surrendered to police at about 5:15 p.m.

The man was in a Johnson Creek Rental shed across the street from its main location at 8430 Southeast 45th Avenue, according to police spokesman Greg Elkins.

The incident started when someone called police to report a suspicious man on his property. The suspect fled on a bike to Johnson Creek Rentals and hid in the shed.

Police said they did not know if the man was armed, but KGW's Katherine Cook reported that no one was in danger.

An employee told Cook the man appeared to be a transient and was yelling, "They're chasing me! They're chasing me!" before running into the shed.

The shed is across the street from Precision Castparts.

Johnson Creek Boulevard was closed from 45th to 52nd avenues during the standoff.
