PORTLAND, Ore. – After being closed for nearly a year, the Lloyd Center ice rink reopened Thursday morning just in time for the holiday season.
The rink has been a staple of the shopping center since 1960. It was reconfigured and upgraded as part of a renovation to the Lloyd Center.
The rink is a bit smaller and now has a more traditional oval design. A 50-foot Christmas tree was placed in the middle of the rink to celebrate the holiday season.
"We are excited to celebrate this moment with Portland," said Robert Dye, general manager of Lloyd Center. “A tremendous amount of work has been dedicated to restoring this classical element of Lloyd Center's history. It is truly Lloyd Center's centerpiece!"
