PORTLAND, Ore. -- The city of Portland began sweeping the homeless from the Springwater Corridor Sept. 1, in an attempt to clean the 14-mile trail after more than 600 people made it their temporary home.
KGW has multiple reporters in the field as the sweep gets underway. Below are video reports from the Springwater Corridor.
Check back for updates.
The sweep began early Thursday morning.
Sky8 filmed live as the homeless began moving out.
While some had already packed up, many camps were still sprawling along the trail.
City crews were out along the most populated portion of the trail Thursday, and neighbors had mixed emotions about the cleanup effort.
Many of the homeless say they have nowhere to go.
One woman said she doesn't even know which direction to walk.
As the day progressed, some homeless found new spots to stay near the trail.
