Fatal wrong-way crash on I-5 in Clark County

SALMON CREEK, Wash. – A 43-year-old man died and a 17-year-old girl was seriously injured in a wrong-way crash on Interstate 5 in Salmon Creek Monday night.

Seth Cusick of Vancouver died at the scene of the crash at Northeast 134th Street. Washington State Patrol said Cusick was driving a Ford Escape southbound in the northbound lanes and crashed head-on into a Volkswagen Jetta driven by 17-year-old Chloe Yates of Woodland.

Yates was rushed to a hospital. She suffered multiple broken bones and internal injuries, according to WSP Trooper Will Finn.

It's unclear what led Cusick to enter the freeway the wrong way.
