UMATILLA COUNTY, Ore.-- Oregon State Police Troopers and emergency personnel responded to the report of a two-vehicle crash on Highway 207, nine miles south of Hermiston.
Troopers determined that a 1996 Subaru wagon, operated by 63 year-old Mervin Grubaugh of Heppner, was northbound on Highway 207 when a 1996 Mack farm truck driven by 60 year-old Maria Lucas of Yakima, Washington driving south on Highway 207 turned left in the travel lane of the Subaru, crashing nearly head-on.
Grubaugh suffered major injuries, and was pronounced deceased at the scene. Lucas was taken to the hospital where she was treated and released.
The highway was closed for about five hours for the crash investigation.
