Driver runs over tent along I-5 off-ramp in Seattle, kills person inside

KING 5's Michelle Li reports.

SEATTLE – Troopers say a suspected hit and run driver was found at his home after hitting a tent at an Interstate 5 off-ramp, killing a homeless person.

It happened during the Monday morning commute.

The Washington State Patrol says the driver fled the scene and was later found at his home. Troopers say the driver had the smell of alcohol on his breath. He was taken to Harborview Medical Center for a drug evaluation.

The investigation caused delays for drivers trying to get to the University District.

The homeless camp was on WSDOT property.
