Injured man airlifted from fishing boat west of Port Orford, Washington

COOS BAY, Ore.-- A man was airlifted to safety by the Coast Guard after he fractured his arm aboard a 285 foot fishing vessel.

An MH-65 helicopter crew from Coast Guard Sector North Bend was notified at 3 a.m. and launched a rescue mission. The helicopter crew arrived at the scene about 25 miles west of Port Orford, Ore. The patient was transferred to local medical responders in Coos Bay at 5:28 a.m.

Low visibility and heavy rain and winds were reported at the time of the rescue.
