Car blocking MAX tracks near 82nd Avenue

PORTLAND, Ore. -- A car driven onto the MAX tracks near Northeast 82nd Avenue and Halsey Street shut down westbound trains on the MAX Blue, Green and Red lines Thursday morning.

"The auto entered the clearly marked, unpaved, restricted right-of-way near Gateway Transit Center," according to a TriMet statement.

Aleksandra Dominika Nowak, 24, was cited for DUII about 4 a.m. for the incident, according to Portland police. Responding officers had found her sitting on a nearby MAX platform.

She was also accused of reckless driving and first-degree criminal mischief.

An on-track tow vehicle was required to lift and remove the 2005 Subaru Forester. TriMet announced that non-service trains were being sent along the tracks about 7 a.m. for a safety check before service resumed.
