PORTLAND, Ore. – The Oregon Zoo’s new polar bear has arrived.
Nora, a 10-month-old cub who was born at the Columbus Zoo in Ohio, will spend 30 days in quarantine, which keepers say is standard practice.
“She seems very comfortable,” said Amy Cutting, who oversees the zoo marine life area. “She’s a bit jet-lagged, but she ate a big breakfast this morning, went for several swims, played in a big pile of ice and enjoyed some epic back-scratching sessions.”

Keepers believe Tasul, the zoo’s 31-year-old female polar bear, will befriend Nora.
Visitors will be able to see Nora in mid-October.
