TIGARD, Ore. -- A woman attacked near Washington Square Mall said she never saw her attacker's face.

The woman, who is also an employee at the mall, said she was walking alone in the parking lot when she was hit on the head from behind, just after 9 p.m. Monday night.

The 53-year-old woman suffered fractures to her nose, eyebrow bone and eye socket. She was treated at a local hospital after the attack and her injuries required 18 stitches.

"Somebody jumped on me. One of his hands was around my neck very hard and with his other hand he hit my head and face. It happened very quickly," she said. The victim asked that her name not be used.

She said she never saw her attacker's face. He fled with her backpack, which had $50 inside.

A person nearby reported seeing a tan sedan speeding away from the scene. Police released a photo and video of a similar vehicle, a mid-90s Honda Accord, hoping someone might come forward with tips for investigators. (See police photo of car at right.)

"Video obtained from the mall also suggests the vehicle's rear passenger side door has substantial damage. The video also depicts that there may have been others involved in the crime," said Jim Wolf with the Tigard Police Department.

"Investigators are working closely with security and retailers at the mall to possibly develop additional descriptors or images which may help to identify the suspect(s) and their associated vehicle," Wolf said.

Anyone with information that could help investigators was urged to call the Tigard Police Department at 503-718-tips (2677) or by sending an email to: tips@tigard-or.gov
