PORTLAND – A woman is in critical condition after being ejected from a car during an accident in Southeast Portland Saturday night.
At around 10:30 p.m., 20-year-old Marissa Conklin was launched some 70 feet after the convertible she was riding in failed to negotiate a slight left turn on Southeast Market Street, hitting two trees, said Sgt. Pete Simpson with Portland police.
The car’s engine separated from the vehicle and came to rest on the sidewalk, Simpson said.
Eric Tarasov, 18, and Davontay Mosley, 17, stayed at the scene and cooperated with investigators, but a fourth man fled the scene before police arrived.
Police were continuing the investigation and trying to determine who was driving during the crash.
