TILLAMOOK, Ore. – A woman was found dead in her vehicle submerged in the Nestucca River Sunday after she vanished on her way home in a storm.
Investigators said Corinne E. Edmiston, 23, left her boyfriend’s home in Hebo around 6:30 a.m. They said she had planned to drive home to Tierra Del Mar and then on to work.
When Edmiston failed to show up at work, her boyfriend and mother called police for help. Deputies started searching her route at about 8:30 a.m. and found tire tracks that veered into the river.
“Fresh tire tracks were located on Resort Drive which runs east to west along the Nestucca River,” said Sgt. Mike Zimmerman with the Tillamook County Sheriff’s Office. “The vehicle was located after about 40 minutes and was upside down on the bottom of the river about 25-30 feet off the bank.”
Zimmerman said the woman’s body was recovered from inside the submerged vehicle and transported to Waud’s Funeral Home in Tillamook.
Investigators believe heavy rain, speed and slick roads contributed to the accident.
