VANCOUVER -- A woman escaped from her burning Vancouver home about 4:45 a.m. Monday, alerting neighbors who helped save her seven dogs inside the house.
She was not injured in the fire at 1105 E 29th Street.
Firefighters had trouble putting out the flames because of excessive clutter inside the home.
Neighbor Jack Watts said he ran into the home to rescue the dogs.
"I found a group of dogs bundled up on the couch, what you could call a couch," he said.
He grabbed one by a leg, one possibly by a tail and threw them out the front door. Other dogs scattered. Watts also said it was difficult to move inside the home due to clutter.
Animal control has agreed to care for the the dogs until the owner can make arrangements for housing.
