PORTLAND – Expect spotty showers with a chance of hail overnight Sunday. While some rain is expected Monday night, dry and cloudy conditions should prevail throughout most of the week, according to KGW Meteorologist Rod Hill.
Monday will be dry with a chance of evening showers, Hill said. He expected skies to stay mostly dry and partially cloudy through to Thursday.
Friday set the all-time daily rainfall record for the month of March, with 1.69 inches at Portland airport.
As of Sunday, the metro area saw 7.16 inches of rainfall, far short of the March rainfall record of 7.89 inches set back in 2012.
The weather downed trees across the metro area Saturday including one in Gladstone that caught fire when it hit a strand of powerlines.
Area rivers were expected to remain below flood levels, even though the Willamette River might swell 9 inches by Monday. Smaller streams, like Fanno Creek, saw minor flooding.
