WEST SALEM, Ore. -- The West Salem High School boys basketball team is heading to the state playoffs after a buzzer-beating half-court shot put the Titans ahead of the Sprague Olympians in the Central Valley Conference tournament Tuesday night.

Chris Felder hadn’t scored throughout the game, until his once-in-a-lifetime shot moved the Titans up, 68-65, just as the game ended.

Fans rushed the court after the game-winning three-pointer, and dog-piled the team. Felder said it was hard to breathe from the bottom of the pile, but he felt on top of the world.

“Thanks to all the fans that came out and supported us, you guys helped a lot,” he said. “Without you guys, we probably wouldn’t have won that game. You guys gave us a lot of momentum.”

“And I would just like to say hello to my mother,” he added.

While he appreciates the attention, Felder said all he really cared about was the win for his team.

The Salem Statesman Journal caught the half-court shot—and the crowd’s reaction—on video (below).
