PORTLAND -- Vandals broke windows and damaged an ATM overnight Wednesday at a Wells Fargo Bank in the 5700 block NE Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard.

An anonymous email sent to KGW Newschannel 8 said the damage was in protest of three people jailed during a May Day rally in Seattle.

The email detailed the vandalism to the windows and said a large rock was used to damage the ATM.

"This was done in solidarity with Matt Duran, Maddy, and KteeO," the email read, "who are being held in federal detention for refusing to cooperate with a federal grand jury investigating local anarchists in Portland in regards to events in Seattle this previous May Day."

Officer Mike Miller told KGW that no entry was made into the bank. Federal officials will be notified about the damage, he said.
