HILLSBORO -- A coach well-known in soccer coaching circles in Portland was arrested Saturday and accused of rape.
Dean A. Fowell, 26, was taken into custody after a match at Liberty High School in Washington County, according to Sgt. Bob Ray of the Washington County sheriff's office.
He was accused of a sexual relationship over the past two years with a girl now 16. Fowell was being held in the Washington County jail on accusations of second-degree rape, second-degree sex abuse, and furnishing alcohol to a minor.
Fowell is a coach with Football Club Portland, Ray said. He also works with the Portland Timbers Regional Training Center, and youth soccer camps at the University of Portland.
Fowell is from London. A hold has been placed on him by U.S. immigration officials.
West Linn police contacted the sheriff's office Saturday morning after learning of the relationship, Ray said. Fowell was located at the match and arrested just before 2 p.m.
Ray said detectives believe one other teen may be a victim.
