HILLSBORO, Ore. – A Bethany man turned himself into authorities Sunday and was charged with multiple counts of sex abuse, according to the Washington County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies believe Johnathan Richard Black, 39, lured a parade of young boys to his family’s home and took advantage of them.

Black turned himself in to Washington County authorities on Sunday after a warrant had been issued for his arrest, according to the sheriff’s office.

Black has been charged with 17 counts, including sex abuse, luring a minor and unlawful delivery of marijuana to a minor. He was held on $1.7 million bail. Investigators think there are more victims and hope they will come forward, too.

The investigation began last year. Deputies said they think Black, a husband and a father, groomed at least five victims, boys 12 years old and up, and lured them into his Bethany home where the crimes occurred.

Investigators told KGW Tuesday that there was a “high likelihood” more victims could come forward and stated that they had already spoken with some potential victims.

”We’re really reaching out to parents whose children may have been in contact with him [Black],” said Sgt. Bob Ray with the Washington County Sheriff’s Office. Ray said they believed the abuses have been going on for a long time. For more than five years in some cases.

The news came as a shock in Black’s community.

”I think that’s terrible, it’s really scary,” said one neighbor who wished to remain anonymous. ”You just never know who’s around in the neighborhood or passing through.”

The Beaverton School District said it was aware of Black's arrest and was working closely with the sheriff's office.

If you have any information about the case, you’re urged to contact the Washington County Sheriff’s Office.
