PORTLAND -- An argument over the sale of a gun between two suspected gang members escalated into a shooting at a Northeast Portland apartment early Tuesday morning, police said.
Investigators released the names of the people involved Wednesday. Police said Tyrone Johnson, 21, was critically injured when Carl Demarcus Flie fired the weapon.
Officers responding to the scene, in the 100 block of Northeast 102nd Avenue, found Johnson suffering from a gunshot wound. He was rushed to an area hospital for treatment.
Police said they found a weapons cache during their investigation.
"The gang enforcement team served a search warrant at an apartment at 115 NE 102nd Avenue where they seized an AR-15 rifle, two 9mm handguns, methamphetamine and a stolen TV," said Sgt. Pete Simpson with the Portland Police Bureau.
Flie was arrested for attempted murder, assault and unlawful use of a weapon. A second individual, 29-year-old Ronald Wilson, was also arrested for his involvement in the sale of a weapon. He was charged with a parole violation and would likely face additional criminal charges, Simpson said.
The southbound lanes of 102nd Avenue were closed at Northeast Glisan Street during the investigation.
