MILWAUKIE, Ore. – Authorities ramped up efforts Thursday in their search for a suspect in a violent Milwaukie kidnapping.

Police released a picture of a 1990s purple Dodge or Plymouth Caravan they believe 49-year-old Kelly Swoboda may be driving. Crime Stoppers also offered a cash reward of up to $1,000 for information that leads to an arrest in the case.

Swoboda is accused of abducting a woman on Wednesday from her workplace at Palm Beach Tan in Milwaukie, throwing her into a minivan and assaulting her.

The woman escaped by jumping from the moving vehicle. She suffered serious injuries.

While U.S. Marshals and Clackamas County deputies continue the search for Swoboda, a federal fugitive with a long criminal history, new security measures are in place at the Palm Beach Tan.

Palm Beach owner Isabella Herburger said employees will no longer work alone and they will have increased access to emergency alarms.

”It’s a very traumatic thing. We’re devastated,” Herburger said. “All of our team members are like family to us. And I’m also a mother. I have a daughter in her 20’s, so it’s just a devastating thing for us. And of course we’re all very worried.”

Police have asked anyone who knows where Swoboda might be to call 911. He should be considered armed and dangerous.
