VANCOUVER, Wash. – Two men have been arrested for allegedly kidnapping a Vancouver man at gunpoint then beating him, robbing him and leaving him tied naked to a tree, police said.
Investigators believe Marcus Bedell, 25, of Washougal and Charles Sample, 32, of Vancouver kidnapped the man last Sunday and took him to the upper Washougal River area off North Fork Road.
“They stripped him of his clothing, tied him to a tree, physically assaulted and then robbed him,” said Dave Cox, Undersheriff with the Skamania County Sheriff’s Office. “Overnight he was able to work himself free and make his way to North Fork Road where a passing motorist picked him up.”
The investigation led officers to Bedell and Sample, who were both arrested last week. They are now being held in the Skamania County Jail for suspicion of assault, kidnapping and robbery.
Cox said the investigation continues and detectives believe additional arrests may be forthcoming.
