VANCOUVER, Wa ... A Vancouver man was assaulted by three teenagers he met on Craigslist.  It happened Wednesday afternoon in the parking lot of Safeway in the 3700 block of Main Street.

Zach Petty met the teens when he answered an advertisement for a broken iPad.  Petty said something seemed strange right away.

"The guy said, oh I have an iPad, and he was carrying a backpack and I really never saw the iPad," said Petty.

Seconds later the teens attacked Petty.

"They come up behind me and hit me with their skateboards and they scream, give me all your money, give me all your money," added Petty.

The 21-year-old did not have any money on him.  Instead the teenagers ripped off his backpack, wallet, debit cards, and identification.  A witness followed the boys to 39th Street and I-5, but they got away.

"It was more of an unfortunate series of events that happened," said Petty.  "I don't think anyone is stupid enough to mug someone in the middle of the day."

Despite his misfortune Petty said he will continue to buy and fix broken electronics.  He will just be extra cautious.

"Carry pepper spray," he said.

If you know anything about this case you are urged to call the Vancouver Police.
