BEND -- A van with a flat tire fell on an Oregon state trooper, causing serious injuries. But the officer is expected to survive.
The State Police said that 30-year-old Trooper Colin Tracy was expected to be released from a Bend hospital Monday, with future medical treatment to be scheduled.
The police say Tracy was trying to get the spare from beneath the disabled van near Sisters on Friday evening, and the jack slipped.
The police say about a dozen people stopped to help the officer, getting the jack back in place and raising the van before emergency responders arrived.
The police say they hope some of those people will give them a call at the Bend office at (541) 388-6213.
