SALEM, Ore. -- The last month of 2008 saw no real job growth in Oregon.
The state Employment Department reported Wednesday the unemployment rate was 11.0 percent. That was up from November's figure of 10.7 percent.
The rate has been close to 11 percent for the last four months of 2009.
A total of 209,576 Oregonians were unemployed in December, compared to the same month last year when 173,121 Oregonians were unemployed at an 8.3 percent rate.
In the U.S., the unemployment rate was at 10.0 percent in both November and December.
Washington's unemployment rate was up to 9.5 percent in December, a half a percentage point increase from the month before.
