BATTLE GROUND, Wash. – A U.S. Marshal opened fire on a suspect fleeing in a car, sending the vehicle head-on into a tree in Battle Ground Thursday.
Around 10:30 a.m., U.S. Marshals were busting a wanted felon in the 7800 block of Northeast 239th Street when the felon hit the gas and headed straight for a deputy marshal, said Sgt. Fred Neiman with the Clark County Sheriff’s Office.
The deputy opened fire on the car, causing it to smash into a tree. The suspect, who was not hit, was taken into custody, Neiman said.
No one was seriously hurt.
Detectives were at the scene investigating. Authorities did not release further details about the case.
