PORTLAND -- The Portland Thorns have three must-win games left in the season after losing to FC Kansas City Sunday night.
The Thorns hosted 1st place Kansas City at Jeld--Wen Field last night in their last regular-season home game.
At the half it was Kansas City 1, Portland 0 when Danielle Foxhoven got the equalizer in the 51st minute.
Then, Kansas City answered back – twice - making it 3-1.
Alex Morgan did net one goal in the closing minutes. But the Thorns lost 3-2.
Sunday's attendance of 17,619 was an NWSL record and the largest attendance ever at a women's professional soccer match in WPS and the NWSL.
Portland's average home attendance of 13,320 for the inaugural NWSL season ranks second all-time among women's professional soccer teams in the United States, behind only the 2001 Washington Freedom (14,421).
