MT. ST. HELENS, Wash. – A 14-year-old boy was rescued after he fell while climbing Mt. St. Helens Tuesday.
The boy slipped and tumbled an unknown distance down the mountain before hitting a rock and coming to a stop.
He briefly lost consciousness and rescuers were called in to help.
The rescuers happened to be nearby because they were helping a woman who fell about 35 feet down a slope. She ended up being able to walk out on her own.
The boy was carried off the mountain by rescuers and transported to Peace Health SW Washington Medical Center in Vancouver where he was listed in stable condition Wednesday.
