PALM SPRINGS, Calif. -- A Salem man was arrested Tuesday after a loaded gun was found in his briefcase at the Palm Springs International Airport.
The .380 Beretta belonging to Andrew Sandowski, 71, had 12 rounds of ammunition, a TSA spokesman told the Desert Sun newspaper.
Sandowski told TSA officials he thought he had left the gun in his car. He was at the airport to board an Alaska Airlines flight bound for Portland.
Sandowski was accused of possession of a firearm in a sterile airport area. He has a court appearance Thursday in Riverside County.
