PORTLAND – Officers are looking for a man after he intentionally rammed their car and fled the basement parking garage of the Safeway at 1010 Southwest Jefferson Street Friday night, police said.

Shortly before 11 p.m., police noticed drugs in a vehicle with two men inside. The driver grabbed onto one officer while starting his car. Another officer grabbed the passenger and pulled him out of the car, Sgt. Pete Simpson said.

The officer being held by the driver got free and tried to use his Taser, but the driver started hitting cars and poles in the garage. He then rammed the side of the police car, Simpson said.

Police have the 17-year-old male passenger in custody. They are looking for a teal late 1990s Ford Explorer with heavy damage in the front and several windows broken out.

The suspect is described as a Native American man in his late 30s, 6-foot-2, 220 pounds with brown eyes and short buzzed black hair.
