VANCOUVER -- A woman suspected of stealing 80 pounds of mail in a Vancouver neighborhood was arrested Thursday, police said.

Christina R. Tandberg, 36, was jailed on charges of trafficking and possessing stolen property, identity theft, forgery and possessing stolen mail, said Kim Kapp of the Vancouver Police Department.

A homeowner in the 6100 block of Northwest Cherry Street told police in October that a large amount of mail was left behind in a room where Tandberg had been staying as a guest.

Police said Tandberg stole and cashed several pre-approved credit card checks, and filled out credit card applications.

Detectives said there were about 40 victims.

The case has been referred to the U.S. Postal Inspector for further investigation, Kapp said.
