SALEM – A suspect was arrested after robbing a clothing store at gunpoint in Salem Friday evening, police said.

At 8:13 p.m. police learned employees chased a Hispanic man wearing a black hoodie who just robbed the “Top to Bottom” store at 2717 Lancaster Drive NE, said Lt. Keith Blair with Salem police.

Arriving officers spotted the suspect running on Lancaster Drive Northeast near Wolverine Street Northeast. When the suspect saw the officers, he ran into a parking lot where he was caught and arrested, Blair said.

Police found the money nearby and a small amount of methamphetamine on the suspect. He was identified as 20-year-old Aurelio Sandoval, a transient from the Los Angeles area.

Sandoval was charged with robbery and possession of a controlled substance. He was booked in the Marion County Jail.
