PORTLAND -- Two Oregon men are still fighting Saturday to return home from a trip to Libya.

Jamal Tarhuni and Mustafa Elogbi both went to Libya to visit family after the revolution.

They tried to return to the United States in January, but Elogbi was stopped by customs officials while Tarhuni was told he was on a no-fly list.

Both men were told they could get on a plane Tuesday, but their lawyer said Saturday Elogbi would have to wait at least another day before he could leave Libya.

His wife told KGW the waiting game was taking its toll.

“This whole trip was supposed to be like a turning point, some happy turning point for the Libyans, said Annie Petrossian. “Instead it has been a nightmare for our family.”

The Council on American Islamic Relations is asking the Dept. of Justice to investigate the Portland FBI office, to ensure Muslims trying to fly home from abroad are not being intimidated.
