GRESHAM, Ore. -- Someone has been stealing sewer grates in Gresham in recent weeks and it's creating hazards for drivers and pedestrians, officials said.
Replacement costs were estimated at more than $7,400, according to City of Gresham spokeswoman Jill Bradley. Since March 10, 18 of the grates have been stolen.
The city has asked metal recyclers to report anyone trying to sell the grates. Bradley said city officials were concerned about the thefts because of the safety hazards.
