Teen accused of running drug lab in Sherwood

SHERWOOD, Ore -- A Sherwood teenager is accused of running a drug lab inside his home in the house sits in the 17000 block of SW King Richard Ct.

Someone who lives in the home contacted police Thursday evening, after discovering what was believed to be a drug lab.

Authorities arrived and confirmed the teen appeared to be making dimethyltryptamine, a psychedelic drug.

Police cleared the home of the drugs and the drug-making materials.

"There's potential for explosives, potential for health risks," said Capt. Ty Hanlon of the Sherwood Police Department.

They 17-year-old boy is facing several charges, including possession and manufacture of a controlled substance.

"They're a real sweet family," said neighbor Cindy Moran.  "It's really sad to hear this is happening to them."

The investigation is continuing.
