PORTLAND -- The family of a Portland teen who died from suspected meningococcal disease will hold a celebration of life in his honor Sunday.

Central Catholic High School student Jacob Parkhurst, 17, died Tuesday, just two days after he shared via social media that he was sick.

His brother, Jeff Parkhurst, announced on Facebook Thursday that a memorial service will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Resort at the Mountain in Welches.

Jeff noted that the celebration will not be a formal affair, because "Jake would not want suit and ties involved."

Instead he said guests should "come comfortable and relaxed - that's how Jake would want it."

He added that the colors of Jacob's favorite sports teams--the Portland Trail Blazers, Oregon State Beavers and Central Catholic Rams--are welcome at the service.
