SEASIDE, Ore. -- A Seaside man reported Thursday morning that he found his daughter dead, and police are now considering her death suspicious.

Seaside 911 dispatchers received the report of an unresponsive child at a home in the 300 block of 3rd Avenue just before 11 a.m., according to a police statement.

Police at the scene learned that the child had been sleeping on the couch with her father, and he called for help when he woke up and realized she wasn't breathing.

An autopsy concluded Friday that the child was healthy just before she died. Investigators considered her death to be the result of suspicious circumstances, but no cause or manner of death was released.

The child's mother lives in Alaska.

The district attorney's office will review the case when the investigation is complete.
