SCIO, Ore. -- A 16-year-old boy drowned while rafting on the McKenzie River on Saturday.
Linn County deputies said the raft carrying Jeremiah Dale Eatherton, of Scio, and a friend got stuck on a tree in a fast section of the river near Carmen Reservoir.
Eatherton was swept away by the current as the raft flipped. The friend made it safely to shore and called for help.
Eatherton's body was found a short distance downstream, deputies said.
