Salem -- A drummer from Salem is trying to break a world record for a worthy cause.

Tom Shanley is raising money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. He became passionate about fundraising after his girlfriend was diagnosed with blood cancer in 2011.

Shanley started pounding on his drum kit Saturday at 1 p.m., and so far, he's drummed for 106 hours. He has to get to 138 hours to break the record.

Shanley gets a 20-minute break every four hours and a two-hour break every 24 hours.

If you'd like to contribute go to Tom Shanley’s fundraising Page go here.
