SALEM -- Newly released statistics show the most common victim in a drowning incident in Oregon is a male.
The Statesman Journal reports he's likely between the ages of 18 and 44, living somewhere in Clackamas or Multnomah County and died while in natural water, such as a river or lake.
That's according to the Oregon Health Authority in the Vital Statistics Annual Report.
The report says between 2006 and 2009, there were 286 unintentional deaths from drowning throughout the state.
Of them, 81 percent were male.
