PORTLAND -- A repaving project will close lanes on West Burnside until 5 p.m. Friday.
The repaving will be between Skyline Boulevard and 48th Drive.
Drivers were warned to expect backups and delays during the evening commute as the street will be down to one travel lane open at a time. Flaggers will help accommodate both eastbound and westbound traffic.
The transportation bureau advised travelers to use alternate routes across the West Hills if possible.
The work will continue each day for the rest of the week. Travelers were asked to follow signs and directions in work zones and to be cautious.
The old surface is being removed before new pavement is put down.
